Exercises

The Exercises section is where you build and manage the core movements your gym uses in classes and personal training. Every exercise you create here becomes part of your gym’s unique programming, forming the foundation for all your class templates and workout plans.

Staff with permission to manage exercises can access this section from the dashboard. You’ll see a searchable, filterable list of all your current exercises, with options to view, add, edit, archive, or restore.

Creating and Editing Exercises

When adding or updating an exercise, you can specify:

  • Multilingual name and description – Make it accessible for all your trainers and clients.
  • Exercise type (e.g. strength, mobility, cardio)
  • Primary muscle group (e.g. legs, back, arms, core)
  • Optional training methodology (e.g. push/pull, circuit, HIIT)
  • Unit of measure (time, reps, or sets)
  • Optional video demo – Upload a demo, and Orlo will optimize it for quick playback in class.

Every exercise is linked to its creator and belongs only to your gym—your programming stays yours.

Archiving and Restoring

Not using an exercise anymore? Archive it to keep your library clean. Archived exercises aren’t deleted and can be restored at any time if you bring them back into rotation.

How Exercises Power Your Classes

Exercises can be used in class templates or added directly to individual events. When assigning an exercise, you can set:

  • Order/station within the class
  • Type of work: timed, for reps, or sets
  • Custom trainer notes for technique cues or personalized advice

Keeping your exercise library up to date means faster class planning, less repetition, and better variety and safety for your clients.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Use clear names and descriptions so all trainers know exactly what each movement is.
  • Add video demos for new or complex movements—clients can view these in-app for extra guidance.
  • Archive outdated or rarely-used exercises to keep your library focused and easy to navigate.
  • Review your library regularly—add trending movements or remove those that don’t fit your gym’s philosophy.

A well-curated exercise library is the backbone of efficient programming and great client results. Make it a habit to keep it fresh and accurate!
