Class Plan Templates

Class plan templates are the foundation of Orlo’s workout planning system. A template lets you predefine the exercises, flow, and method for any class type—ensuring every session is high-quality and on-brand, whether it’s generated automatically or chosen by a trainer.

Why Use Templates?

  • Deliver consistent, varied, and effective sessions across all trainers and time slots.
  • Reduce planning time—just set it up once, and reuse it as often as you like.
  • Give every trainer a clear structure to follow, while still allowing for personalization.
  • Enable automation: Orlo’s auto-planner uses your templates to generate sessions that match your style and avoid repeats.

How to Create a New Template

  1. Go to the Templates section in the staff dashboard.
  2. Click Add Template.
  3. Fill in the form:
    • Name: Give your template a clear name (e.g., "Full Body Strength – Monday").
    • Class Type: Choose which class or session type this template is for (e.g., Strength, HIIT, PT).
    • Client (optional): Link it to a specific client for PT or special cases.
    • Methodology: Select a training method (e.g., Circuit, Superset, AMRAP).
    • Direction (optional): Add a focus (e.g., Push, Pull, Lower Body).
    • Notes: Add coaching tips, cues, or special instructions for trainers (these appear during class).
  4. Click Create to save your template.

Building Your Template

  • Use the search bar to find exercises by name, muscle group, or tag.
  • Click to add each exercise to your template. Assign them to stations or order them as needed.
  • Adjust the order or remove exercises as you wish—the Planned Exercises section shows your current list.
  • Add set/rep details, timings, or weight suggestions in the notes if needed.

How Templates Are Used in Orlo

  • Templates are scored and selected automatically by Orlo’s class planner based on client history, muscle group coverage, and training variety.
  • Trainers can also choose a template manually for a specific class or event—perfect for themed sessions or signature workouts.
  • When a class uses a template, all planned exercises, instructions, and notes are visible in real time—so trainers and clients are always in sync.
  • Client weights and progress are logged using the template, giving powerful insight into performance and trends over time.

Best Practices

  • Give each template a clear, descriptive name—especially if you have many similar formats.
  • Use notes for special cues, modifications, or reminders you want every trainer to see.
  • Review and update your templates regularly to keep sessions fresh and effective.
  • Test templates in class and get trainer feedback before rolling them out to the whole team.

Templates are the heart of your programming and automation in Orlo—use them to create a consistent, data-driven experience that both clients and trainers will love.
