Create session types
This guide is for gym owners and personal trainers using Orlo to streamline operations, engage clients, and grow their business.
Session types define the kinds of services your business offers — such as strength classes, personal training, massage, or nutrition consultations. They help you organise your schedule, display sessions on your timetable, and set up automated class planning.
Why session types matter
Each session type you create can:
- Represent a specific type of class or service (e.g. “Strength”, “PT”, “Massage”)
- Control how sessions appear on your timetable (color, emoji, name)
- Enable automated workout planning using templates or full-body generators
How to create a session type
Go to the Session Types section and click “New session type”. You’ll be able to configure:
- Name — the name your clients will see
- Description — optional short and long descriptions in English, Spanish, and Catalan
- Emoji — to visually distinguish the session (e.g. 🏋️, 💪, 🧘)
- Color — used to color-code the timetable (optional)
- Service type — choose whether it’s a class, PT session, massage, nutrition, etc.
Optional settings
You’ll also see some checkboxes that let you control advanced behavior:
- Show on timetable – controls whether this session type appears in your public schedule
- Automatically plan classes using templates – Orlo will select a workout template for each session and populate it with exercises
Note: You can only enable one automation option at a time — either templates or full-body generation.
How automation works
When you schedule a class using a session type that has automation enabled:
- If templates are enabled, Orlo will assign a workout template and generate the class plan an hour before the class starts
This saves your trainers time and ensures your clients get structured, effective workouts without manual planning.
